The British Legacy in Wayanad - During the British colonial period, Wayanad’s cool climate and fertile soil led to the establishment of large tea and coffee estates, shaping its plantation culture through structured methods and refined blending practices. Alongside this legacy, the region’s aromatic spices — cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, pepper, and other native ingredients — added warmth and depth to every brew.
Their influence helped shape Wayanad into a recognized plantation region — laying the foundation for generations of tea craftsmanship that followed.
